Successful Inventing: Product Development

We have seen it happen too many times: inventors losing momentum after they receive their patent grant, having little knowledge of how to develop or market their product. Although we offer our own contacts and advice in manufacturing and design, there is much to learn. The USPTO addresses this issue in their Successful Inventing Series, continuing tomorrow, July 10, 2024 at 11:00 Pacific Time (2:00 PM Eastern Time).

This session will address:

  • Product design vs. product engineering
  • Design it, develop a complete product, sell it before you make it, obsolete the competition
  • Determine what people want before they know they want it
  • Knowing your market advantage

The Successful Inventing series covers various aspects of the invention process. Each biweekly session is held virtually. Participants will hear experts discuss topics that include intellectual property, product development, licensing and funding.

Register at the USPTO’s eventbrite page.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. Please send your questions in advance or during the event to SiliconValley@uspto.gov.

If you can’t make this one, the USPTO has a full series with more to follow. Upcoming events cover how to do an elevator pitch (July 24), and how to obtain early-stage funding (August 7).
