Before you spend all that time and money applying for a patent for that cool innovation, perhaps you’d like to determine its chances of patentability. The USPTO has a webinar series just for that. It’s called Think Like an Examiner, offering  four days of workshops (with homework), from Tuesday, August 5, through Friday the 8th.

Signup will remain open until full, or until the end of the day today.

Taught by USPTO instructors, the course material is based on the same training as that given to new USPTO examiners.

Attendees must complete pre-activity homework. A sample application will be used for the course exercises .

  • Day one: The role of the examiner and how they approach an application.
  • Day two: How to plan and conduct a patent search, plus patent rules.
  • Day three:  Learn to map prior art to your claims.
  • Day four: Complete mapping prior art to claims, plus learn how patent examiners write their office actions.

For a detailed schedule, see Inventor 4-day course general schedule.
